O’My God do I have a band for you. I’m gonna be one of those guys that says good music is hard to come by these days. This. Is. Good Excellent. Music. The O’My’s are a newish (2007) Soul/Blues band from the heart of Chicago.

Did you see what I did there with the 3 and the 4? Pretty cool right? No? Fine. I recently got an email telling us to check out Sameblod, an electronic pop duo from Stockholm, Sweden. The members Frederick Rundqvist and Mikael Mattisson met only a year ago and began making music in February. They released an EP which you can buy HERE or just listen to their soundcloud. Also, check out their FACEBOOK. (Did you see the Swedish colors in their name up there ^? I’m on top of my game today…)
Turntable.fm is the newest way to listen to music online with friends. It’s only in the beta stages right now but its perfect in my eyes. 5 people switch off playing songs on stage and you can switch places with people in the audience if you have to leave. The more “Awesome” votes you get, the more points you’re rewarded which add up to give you cool avatars (Daft Punk suit and Deadmau5 to name a few). I suggest you get on if you have a friend on Facebook who’s using it because it’s invite only. If you’re friends with us personally on Facebook, we can invite you. We seriously suggest you try it. Look for Site Of Sound.
One of our friends sent over a track by K. Flay about a week ago. The name might sound familiar as she does the vocals for Zion I’s hit “Coastin’.” In addition, she has been on tour with Passion Pit. Her music definitely varies all over the spectrum, which I think shows how much talent this girl really has. She has some some serious potential and I wouldn’t be too suprised if she appeared on the top of Hype Machine more than a few times. What I like about her is that she has the ability to not only sing a chorus like a pro, but she also shows a hip-hop side that puts her in a unique place as an artist. The first track I have for you is her taking control of dubstep song by Magnetic Man. I feel like so many people just put on dubstep and automatically think it sounds good. On the other hand, when you hear a remix like this, it definitely sets the bar for skill. Moreover, I feel like a lot people don’t succeed like K. Flay does over this song…it’s just badass. The second track I have for you is her going over a song by the XX and it sounds fresh.

Beirut is one of my favorite bands of all time. “Gulag Orkestar” & “Flying Club Cup” are both amazing albums that I listen to consistently. I love the voice of Zach Condon and I think he has a great story. At age 16, the kid dropped out of high school, moved to Europe for a year, and got introduced to Balkan Folk Music. If there is one thing about Beirut that I like the most, it is that their sound & style are unmatchable. In their most recent album, “March of the Zapotec & Realpeople – Holland,” Zach strayed away from his previous albums and added a more electronic feel to it with electronic beats and synthesizers. Zach recently announced that he will be releasing a new album this summer and performed two unreleased songs a few days ago. I really like this one about his hometown Santa Fe and I think he is coming back to his orginal sound that he had previously before “March of Zaptoc…”

Five years in the making, “Rome” is the collaboration between producer Dangermouse and Italian composer Daniele Luppi. This is a project and I think the outcome is amazing. Dangermouse is the producer behind Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells and the Gorillaz’s Demon Days album. Now that talent is infused with Daniele Luppi’s interest in Italian film music and the outcome is incredible. It also features Jack White and Norah Jones. I recommend listening to the stream from Rolling Stone. The album comes out May 17 and I’ll surely be purchasing it. Here is featured song from the album for listening purposes:
Buddy Holly was on my very first burned CD. I became very familiar with his music because my parents always played it growing up. This is another album that has serious potential…I mean just look at all the featured artists. I’ll try to post more from this tribute album, which is coming out June 28, but here is an great cover by Modest Mouse. That’ll Be the by TheNJUnderground

Mayer Hawthorne released an EP a little while ago in which he covers artists like Jon Brion, E.L.O., Chromeo, and others. It’s really good and its FREE. I’m not going to even post a song from it because I think you should really just download the EP…it’s only 6 songs. #soulswag
I think this video is pretty damn cool. It talks alot about blogs, the rise of EDM, and its popularity today. Has interviews from a shitload of artists such as: A-Trak, Steve Aoki, Crookers, Dave-1, Laidback Luke, LMFAO, Lil’ Jon, Pitbull, Armand Van Helden, Spank Rock.
The whole movie can be viewed over at Pitchfork by clicking HERE

So Brenton had his second show ever last Thursday at the Paradise Club in Boston. It sold out and he got to rock the stage for about 900 kids before Hoodie Allen and Sam Adams. Video from the madness above.

Anyways he tested this song out live and it did great, its a remix of Javelin’s Tryout:
