    Sunjacker- “Mischief” (Mixtape)

    2012 - 01.31

    .

We at this fine establishment called Site Of Sound have not posted a mashup in a long time, let alone a full mixtape. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that we won’t post mashups unless something really good comes along. Well, something really, REALLY good came along. Sunjacker (aka Jackson Cory Yates) makes multiple song mashups a la Girl Talk and in my opinion, is on his level.

    .

    MisChief Mixtape

    .

He’s been making mashups for about three years and right now he’s in college at NYU. If anybody is interesting in live shows, collaborations or anything like that, email him at jcy239@nyu.edu. Check out his Facebook back HERE. I’ve included one of my favorite tracks above and the rest below.

    .

    Sunjacker – Sell Me Out

    .

    Sunjacker – I Am

    .

    Sunjacker – Get ‘Em

    New…Relatively Speaking

    2012 - 01.31

Here are the visuals for the new track “Must Go On” by Pretty Lights. He has been playing this song at shows for a while now, and the time has finally come for its release. To download, visit the Pretty Lights website, HERE. Now as for these other tracks, some aren’t exactly what I would consider “new,” which in my definition means released within the last week, but seeing as I have been super lazy with blog posts I figured I could momentarily change up my definition.

    .

Cudi has been on top of his game with both his single for his upcoming EP “WZRD,” which is a collaborative project with Dot Da Genius, and his features on Chip Tha Ripper’s new mixtape “Tell Ya Friends.”

WZRD (Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius) – Teleport 2 Me, Jamie (Feat. Desire)

Chip Tha Ripper – GloryUs (Feat. The Almighty GloryUs)

    .

On top of GloryUs being a dope track from Chip’s new mixtape,  ”25 Wives,” which features Wale, is a solid tune to help you kick back and let your mind go. Although I thoroughly enjoy a solid Chip Tha Ripper tune, his mixtapes are usually filled with a bunch of shitty tracks, with some average to slightly above average ones sprinkled in there. This mixtape was no different, except for the fact that the tracks that are worth listening to are mainly worth listening to only because of the features, which is the case with “We Ain’t Playin” which features Malik Yusef and CyHi Da Prince, who absolutely murders the second verse.

Chip Tha Ripper – 25 Wives (Feat. Wale)

Chip Tha Ripper – We Aint Playin’ (Feat. CyHi Da Prynce & Malik Yusef)

    .

Next comes a well needed new track from K’Naan. As an avid K’Naan fan, I have been waiting for some new music by him so this song made my month. The combination of his Somalian influenced verses and uplifting chorus along with the soulful words of Nas make quite the jam. No need to hide ya wife, kids, or even grandma while listening to this song because this is one for the whole family to appreciate.

K’Naan – Nothing To Lose (Feat. Nas)

    .

Finally comes a track from a kid who is new to SiteOfSound, who goes by the name of Chris Cab. I heard of this kid through friends from the 305 I met at school who know the Miami native, where he has quite the fan base. Everyone should check out his covers on youtube, in which he gives reggae-beachy vibes to songs such as “Black And Yellow” and “All Of The Lights.” Be prepared to see a lot more of this dude in the near future.

Chris Cab – Rihanna’s Gun (Feat. Mavado & Wyclef)

    Payin' the bills...

Alan Wilkis – Shadow (feat. Lyrics Born and White Hinterland)

    2012 - 01.31

    .

Alan Wilkis is back again with his second single from his “Prints” project. “Shadow” features White Hinterland and the vocal stylings of Lyrics Born. The verses are more intense and gritty compared to the smooth and airy chorus, showing both sides to the “shadow.” We look forward to new songs from “Prints” coming soon!

Lana Del Rey – “Summertime Sadness”

    2012 - 01.26

    .

I could see this upcoming album being a little boring and repetitive but I’ll still give it a listen since I really enjoy each song that comes out, even if they’re all very similar. I really love her voice and style which unfortunately doesn’t carry over live. Honestly that doesn’t bother me though. She makes good music. Just don’t see her live.

    .

Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness

Nicki Minaj – Stupid Hoe (Official Video)

    2012 - 01.20

    .

Ok. That was interesting. The song’s pretty good but this video is awesome. Hype Williams is excellent at what he does. Almost as good as one of my favorites from last year, All Of The Lights (below).

    .

    POW POW

    2012 - 01.19

It has been far too long since I’ve posted for this little blog that allows readers to actually see the beautiful sounds that are created by musicians. I have no excuse except for sheer laziness, but hey, time to hop back on my board and keep rolling. Here are some glorious dubstep tunes that will surely wake up the neighbors.
    .
    Rusko – Somebody To Love

    .

Skrillex, 12th Planet & Kill The Noise – Burst

    .

Bassnectar – Upside Down (Bassnectar & Terravita Remix)

    .

    Bassnectar – Voodoo (Bassnectar & ill.Gates Remix)

    .

And finally, the most anticipated remix of the year….drum roll please…..

We’re a little late with this but we found it important to share with you nonetheless. Please let us know what you agree or disagree with on our Facebook and give us your list.

    .

    10) Tron Legacy: R3c0nfigur3d

    .

    .

This could be my favorite remix album ever. With remixes by The Glitch Mob, Crystal Method, Boys Noize, Pretty Lights, and many more, we get a techno spin on an already great electronic soundtrack.

    .

Daft Punk & M83 VS Big Black Delta – Fall (Remixed by M83 VS Big Black Delta)

    .

    9) The Weeknd – “House Of Balloons/Thursday”

    .

    .

I first heard The Weeknd in the promo for the last season of Entourage. Crazy falsetto vocals over a dubstepy instrumental with the gang walking in slow motion had me hooked. Then “House of Balloons” and “Thursday” came out on the same day and we knew how dope The Weeknd actually was. Not to mention, his first mixtape had a Drake guest track.

    .

    The Weeknd – Rolling Stone

    .

    8.  Adele – “21″

    .

    .

Adele > Gaga. Adele is overweight, sits down when she sings (even in music videos) and just doesn’t give a fuck. Maybe if Lady Gaga always played her music like she did on Howard Stern, she could have a chance at being as good as Adele’s sophomore album, “21.” I’ve seen grown men belting “Someone Like You.”

    .

Adele – Last Nite (The Strokes Cover)

    .

    7) Drake – “Take Care”

    .

    .

I’ve always enjoyed hearing Drake’s music but it wasn’t until “Take Care” that I listened to one of his songs over and over. Not just one song, but the whole album. It was all I listened to for 2 weeks. The production is amazing and the lyrics are real. Drake tells us stories about being famous, lonely and somewhere in between happy and sad. Below is probably my favorite song on the album, solely because there’s a harmonica solo from Stevie Wonder. Enjoy.

    .

Drake – Doing It Wrong (Feat. Stevie Wonder)

    .

    6) Beirut – “The Rip Tide”

    .

    [This video is bizarre]
    .

Us Site Of Sounders are big Beirut fans and were lucky enough to see them at Bonnaroo this Summer. Their latest album, “The Rip Tide,” is a much poppier version of their beautiful Bulgarian gypsy sound.

    Pogo’s Fresh Prince Mash Up

    2012 - 01.16

    .

Now I need to watch Fresh Prince. Pogo has done it again with another great mash up. I’m gonna be singing “Arnold Schwarzenegger” like that all week.

    Sunday Night Rage

    2012 - 01.15

    .

    FuzZ – San Fransisco

    .

Tommy Trash – Cascade (Original Mix)

    .

Bonjour Hi – La Pata Y El Pato (Lazerdisk Party Sex Remix)

    .

Quartus Saul – Super Heroes (Twist Remix Ft. Maksim)

    .

    Duck Sauce – Anyway

    .

Nostalgia & Aami – Outlaster (Original Mix)

    .

    Gramatik – In My City

Miami Horror – Holidays (Sam Sparro and Golden Touch Remix)

    2012 - 01.11

    .

Our buddies at SkeetBeatz just posted this gem and I felt the need to share it. This is a remix of one of my favorite songs as well and I think it does Holidays a great justice. It doesn’t change too much but gets a moodier bass line which I really like. Also, show SkeetBeatz some love. They’re dope.
