Bastille – What Would You Do (City High Cover)

    2011 - 10.30

    .

Wow. This is my favorite cover in a long time. Bastille (aka Dan Smith) has been recording his new album in London. I can’t find anything else about him but you can listen to his other songs HERE. They all sound great.

Alan Wilkis’ New Project “PRINTS” Is Something To Look Forward To

    2011 - 10.27

    .

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Alan Wilkis, but his latest project is all we could ask for and more. Wilkis wrote all the instrumental tracks and then brought in different artists to collaborate on each track. PRINTS has a great mission statement HERE, which you should take a look at.

    .

Wilkis sent over the first released track off of PRINTS and it features The Kickdrums. Check it out and download below and keep checking back here for new PRINTS releases.

    Bassnectar & Datsik – Elevate

    2011 - 10.26

If you don’t know who the man under all of that hair is, I’m sorry your life sucks. In preparation for Bassnectar’s show in New Orleans tomorrow night, I bring to you his new track with Datsik. I’m not sure if I like it better than their last collaboration, but the bass still goes hard.

Washed Out – Before (Official Video)

    2011 - 10.24

    .

I’m going to follow up that last video with another one from my favorite album of the Summer, “Within and Without” by Washed Out. The first half of this video is beautiful with shots of the beach, glamorous vacations and beautiful women. Then I get lost. It might be over my head. Great video though.

    M83 – Wait (Official Video)

    2011 - 10.24

    .

Have I told you to get this album yet? Anyway, wow. That was sad. If taking those adorable monkey’s and making them go to space wasn’t bad enough, we then get to see every other horrible thing that happened in the 60’s. Beautiful song though, and the visuals make you feel it.

White Lies – Death (Chase & Status Remix)

    2011 - 10.24

    .

HypeMachine reminded me of my favorite White Lies remix. Chase & Status throw down a heavy but soothing bass line over “Death” and it works oh so well. Sorry I wasn’t around here in 2009 to post this.

MOTM are becoming really consistent in releasing amazing songs.  I have yet to listen to something by them that I don’t like.

Life On The Nickel (Mansions On The Moon Remix)-Foster The People

    .

I don’t really like Chilly Gonzales that much on his own, but I most certainly dig his sound remixed by Pyramid.

    Knight Moves (Pyramid Remix)-Chilly Gonzales

    .

Another xx remix?  I don’t care…plus it been a while.  This remix intensifies the original version of this song.  Is it just me or is The xx music made for rainy days?

    Night Time (Synkro Remix)-The xx

Neon Lights is coming out with an EP this Winter.

    Real Hip-Hop

    2011 - 10.20

In the past week I have been really impressed with the rap game. Whether it be new artists or veterans dropping new tracks, hip-hop has been on point. To pay tribute for the recent fire being spit, this post is dedicated strictly to hip-hop.

    .

First off, I’d like to start with one of my favorite up-and-coming rappers. Purple Swag introduced me to ASAP Rocky, and I messed with the song but didn’t see any real talent in the Harlem native. Then he started dropping more tracks, and as I listened more I realized that he can actually rap. His flow is constantly improving while his word play also continues to grow. ASAP Rocky is definitely someone to look out for in the future.

Out Of This World – ASAP Rocky

    .

Next comes a track from a dude who I really don’t know much about. What I know is that just 18 months ago this guy quit his job as a chef, and picked up rapping as a full time career. From hearing this song, I’d say he made a pretty decent decision.

Cocoa Butter ft. Nina Sky – Action Bronson & Statik Selektah

    .

Havn’t heard Mobb Deep in a minute, but it’s good to see they haven’t lost their skills. Plus, this song is one that probably all of our readers can relate to.

    Street Lights – Mobb Deep

    .

9th wonder always lays down a smooth beat, and Raekwon along with Big Remo compliment it nicely.

No Pretending (Feat. Raekwon & Big Remo) – 9th Wonder

    .

I couldn’t help but throw this in here, just because this song is so laid back. Can’t help but relax the moment the music enters my ears.

French Inhale – Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg

    .

I choose to put this last, simply because it is amazing. Big K.R.I.T. starts off on this beautiful beat with a quality opening verse, but the game is changed when Mela Machinko uplifts your spirits with a heavenly chorus. Naturally, Talib kills it with some real deep rhymes leaving it up to Outasight to step up as the anchor, which he succeeds in doing. I really can’t get enough of this song.

Beautiful (Feat. Big K.R.I.T., Outasight & Mela Machinko) – Talib Kweli

    I.D.G.A.F.O.S. – Dillon Francis

    2011 - 10.18

    .

Fall break really sucks when everybody is away, and you are not. What sucks more is realizing that fall break is over and you have put in 0 minutes doing school work. But today Dillon Francis released his new single IDGAFOS, so life is dandy. There isn’t much to say about this song, except it truly makes me not give a fuck, or a shit for that matter.
