Bassnectar is one of the most talented electronic musicians in the world. Classifying himself as a freestyle amorphous musician, he has become one of the biggest in the biz. You may remember his banger we posted a few weeks back Magical World in which he remixed Nelly Furtado’s Turn Off the Lights into a bass thumping electro ballad. Well he is back at it again this time remixing Fever Ray’s When I Grow Up. Wait till the hook drops at about 50 seconds in with this one:
Fever Ray: When I Grow Up (Bassnectar Remix)
One of my favorite songs of the past year is Wiz Khalifa’s This Plane. I would be lying if i said i wasn’t hoping for a remix of this and Hugh Crazy delivers with a completely new spin on the song check it out:
Wiz Khalifa: This Plane (Hugh Crazy Remix)
I honestly thought after the Soundmen’s remix of That Tree was the best sounding remix of that song that could be produced. Yet a few weeks later Star Guitar Remixes proved me wrong with this awesome space age influenced jammer:
Snoop Dogg: That Tree ft. KiD CuDi (Star Guitar Remix)
I heard about Mt. Eden Dubstep awhile ago and posted one of their songs Still Alive. I realize Dubstep is still a very new genera of music to many of you, but figured since this one mashes up Mt. Eden’s Sierra Leon with Khalifa people would dig it:
DJ E: Say Dubstep (Wiz Khalifa vs. Mt Eden Dubstep)
So a few weeks back we posted The Glitch Mob’s Drive Like You Stole It and we all thought it was a perfect song to rap over. Well we weren’t the only ones, King Fantastic comes through HARD on this one, MUST DOWNLOAD:
The Glitch Mob:Drive It Like You Stole It (King Fantastic Remix)

Some newish music to check out. First off is Teen Daze. From the sound of their first single Shine On, You Crazy White Cap it seems the band name is very appropriate. Definitely some good vibes for the impending summer. Next we have a song off of the Used To Sail EP that M. Pyres did for FabledFarm. A very easy and pleasing listen. Banjo or Freakout is new to me. I just got Slider on a compilation disc and I’m curious to check out more, maybe you are too. To close out today’s playlist I chose two songs from the Quiet Hooves/The Dream Scene split EP. This little split is awesome, I had a hard time choosing what to post because all the songs are so good. Check yourself lest you wreck yourself.

Yo so random wednesday post for me, but had to get the goods out to you guys. This guys name is Trouble Andrew a pro snowboarder who dates Santigold. His mixtape dubbed The Trouble Gang drops May 1st. Its some cutting edge new age shit so be prepared for it when you listen. A little dubstep flavor mixed into some heavy electronic bass lines make this song both interesting and completely dope at the same time. There are two versions (both mixed by Hathbanger) let me know what you guys think:
Trouble Andrew: Take It To The Top (Hathbanger Remix)
The Confidaunt Remix: Take It To The Top (Hathbanger Remix)

Melodies for chilling… After a strong weekend of ear-drum bursting jams, here are a few tunes for relaxing and reminiscing about your weekend revelry. Mondays are a time to rid yourself of all female (or male) drunken soils and refresh your spirit with some reggae vibes. Praise jah (and rhymefest has a tight new piece as well)
Karma Police: Easy Star All-stars w/ Citizen Cope
Rhymefest: Familiar Faces

Neon Tongues is a garage rock band out of Cleveland. If your into serious distortion and low fidelity then these guys are for you. I couldn’t pick between the two songs on the Big Kids cassette so you get both. If you want to get super spaced out then have a listen to Parallel Pyres. Lots of layering goin on here, a very rewarding listen. Tobacco, with a little help from Beck, put out this hectic electronic gem. It’s short but sweet. To wrap things up, here’s another Gauntlet Hair track to tide you over until their album drops, which I fear may not be for a while. That’s all for now.

Dubai is really hot and so are these songs
B.o.B: The Kids (Feat. Janelle Monae)
Once again, B.o.B. holds it down with more fresh yams. After Chromeo remixed Vampire Weekend’s “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance” last year, i thought that I’d had enough, but apparently not. This song is fire
Bassnectar: Where Is My Mind (Pixies Remix)
Nectar of the gods, wait for it to really get going before you judge
Whole-Z: Teenage C.R.E.A.M. Land
Mash-ups seem to be the flavor of the day, the bees knees, an afternoon delight… yet, you can always count on whole-z to do it right. This one uses Baba O-Reilly, which is a bold move, but he executes well.
EPROM
Don’t know the name of this tune or where it comes from, but enjoy

This song first appeared on SOS with LOGGY’s remix of it. Here is the second version of We Run LA courtesy of Ya Boy Although i think he’s from SF he seems to run LA nicely with this one:
Dr. Hollywood ft. Ya Boy: We Run LA
Fresh off their interview with SOS The White Panda comes through with a bumpin mashup of Fatboy Slim’s Praise You and Outkast. Sounds dope so give it a listen and download:
The White Panda: Praise Outkast (Fatboy Slim vs. Outkast)
Never heard of Brenton Duvall before but his mashie of Lil Wayne and Passion Pit’s Little Secrets flows real real well.
Brenton Duvall: Ambien Sleepy Trip (Lil Wayne vs. Passion Pit)
Haven’t heard from Wale in a while, but he comes back in hot teaming up with Bird Peterson to create a nice harp influenced jam:
Wale: Freaks (Bird Peterson Remix)
I’m new to Glasses Malone, but after hearing this song I have to say I’m a fan. With a real catchy hook, on top of solid lyrics this song is sure to be a hit:
Glasses Malone: I Get Doe

Four twenty isn’t just about lighting up the devil’s cabbage, it’s also about good music. Two awesome records dropped yesterday while you were laughing at the backs of your hands and eating gallons of pepperidge farms goldfish. The first was a full length LP from Plants and Animals called La La Land (how fitting). Canadians just have a knack for good old fashioned indie/alternative rock, Plants and Animals are no exception. Below you’ll find two songs from the new album as well as two of my absolute favorites from their first full length album Parc Avenue from 2008. Next is Cults’ brand new EP Go Outside that also dropped yesterday. Cults makes up half of the artists on the new Forrest Family Records backed by the kind folks over at gorillavsbear. The other half is Gauntlet Hair and if you missed them on Sunday do yourself a favor and fix that. The Cults record consists of the two songs posted below for free digital download but what is really awesome is that they come on one of four hundred crisp heavy duty yellow vinyl discs. How delightfully archaic. Supposedly, one of those discs is headed to my doorstep and i couldn’t be more excited. I would say that you should head over to ForrestFamilyRecords if you want one for yourself but it seems they’ve sold out, sorry.
